Suppose you are a tree, what do you think about the people around you. Everyone will have three types of people in their life. To which parts of a tree they best suite at: a leaf, a branch or the root? Those peoples can be compared to the leaves, the branches and the roots of a tree.
Some people are like leaves, when the wind blows they go with it. Additionally, with the change in season they change. They are like the temporary friendships and are there for short term. Like the leaves, they are beautiful in the beginning but eventually they fall away with the wind or change of season. There can be many peoples like leaves in our life however, they have made some impacts in our life regardless of the consequences of those impacts. So,
We can appreciate the lessons they brought,
We can have gratitude for the moments,
And detach from any pain they cause.
And never forget that, they helped us grow at that time.
The second type of people are like branches. You have to be careful with these because they are misleading contrary to your thoughts. Those people will make you think that they are a good friend. Though, they are really strong and are there for you. However, they break and fall, the minute you step out on them.
Everyone has some people who said:
“You can depend on me.”
“I am always there for you.”
“I am just one call away.”
But when you believe and stick up with these promises, you find that they are liars.
The third type of people are those that are like roots. People who are like roots of a tree are permanently there for you no matter when and where. They are the friends who walk with you through everything and go through every ups and downs of life. And obviously, still stand strong as friends worth keeping and never to be left behind.
In our lives, we know moments where we have been branches to others and had branches in our life. Often, we may have promised a lot and not been able to live up to it because of our own shortcomings. This can be the same with others.
A tree in its lifetime can have millions of leaves, hundreds of thousands of branches however, a few roots down at the bottom to make sure that it gets everything, it needs. When you get some roots, hold onto them. However, for the rest of it, be okay to let it go.
This allow us the opportunity to become more honest with ourselves and more honest with the people around us. We need to surround ourselves with people who contribute to our overall emotional, mental, physical, well-being.
Remember, you won’t be able to change the people around you however, you can change the people you choose to be with.
